cultural tourism

Cultural tourism is a form of tourism which aims to discover the cultural heritage of a region and, by extension, the way of life of its inhabitants.

Social and economic phenomenon background in the contemporary world, cultural tourism would represent from 8% to 20% of the tourism market share. This share has increased significantly in recent years with the creation of specifically targeted commercial offers on cultural destinations (sometimes by specialized operators) and sites to apprehend it.) 1.

If the heavyweights Tourism (Spain, USA, France, Italy, Egypt ...) are cultural and tourist destinations, all European countries play Cultural Tourism map now relying on their material heritage and immaterial to attract tourists and visitors.
The concept of cultural tourism is difficult to understand as a specific social practice within tourism
practices and cultural practices. However, we find that all of the most publicized imaging various tourist places (Acapulco, Riviera, Fjords of Norway, Kenia, Pacific Islands, Savoie ...) feeds the world of performances with a strong cultural dimension.

The World Tourism Organization defines the narrow sense as a "movement of people obeying essentially cultural motivations such as study tours, art tours and cultural trips, trips to attend festivals or other cultural events, visiting sites and monuments, traveling for the purpose of discovering nature, the study of folklore or art, and pilgrimages. "2

The strength of the link between culture and tourism is explained in the recreational act (free time), outside his place of residence and driven by different motivations (beach, discovery, country, sun, business, pilgrimage, cruise stay language etc.). "These are realized in a choice of destination and form of travel and stay that both refer to parameters of the order of identity, imagination and representation." 3

So consider cultural tourism as a specific category of link between culture and tourism is considered to be related to a conscious decision to "grow through various tourist resources." 4 In short, it is a means by which a traveler will seek the expansion of its intellectual horizon. However, this awareness is not necessarily that of cultural tourism explicitly formulated by the individual who often held to simpler motivations as set forth above. This is so when we talk about cultural tourism a social practice category and offers built afterwards.
